The Good, The Better & GENERAL CONFERENCE!

Visited another district meeting this past week.
Hey everyone! It has been a pretty crazy week, so many good things, we had transfers and about half of the zone actually changed, so it was a pretty crazy transfer day. We were coordinating rides, car switches, missing tablets, de-activated phones, we had it all. Due to the hurricanes destroying Puerto Rico, actually we have two missionaries re-assigned from the Puerto Rico Mission! They're names are Elder Marte and Elder Rogers, one from the Dominican Republic and one from Canada. They are awesome!

We have a baptism coming up for Lucia and Nelson this weekend, so we are super excited!! Lots of good things coming!!

There was an experience that I wanted to share with you! Last night we had a cool experience with an investigator family! The parents, Heather and Ryan, called us to ask for help in moving, and so we helped them move a few weeks prior to this lesson. They never seemed super interested in the gospel. They were fully committed to attending another church in Mesa, a good 30 minutes from where we are, and seemed on top of the world. Last week we shared The Family: A Proclamation to the World with them. We showed up tonight and they said that they read it, and they really enjoyed it because they already believed and practiced pretty much everything within that proclamation. It was then that we decided to be bold about the restoration of Christ's church, and how "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" is a sign of God's love for us and that we have a modern prophet and modern apostles today. We shared the Joseph Smith story and they loved it. The spirit was strong despite three absolutely crazy children running around for the entire time and screaming, and by the end of the lesson it was very evident that something had changed within them. They went from being not so interested to inviting us back over tomorrow night! We are so excited to teach this family, and I know that the Spirit of God is there to be felt by anyone who wants to feel it! It is the closest to true peace and joy that we can ever be.

We had an awesome weekend of General Conference as well, which is always amazing. It was heartbreaking to hear about Elder Robert D. Hales passing away, but I know he is helping in the work on the other side!! The one thing that really stuck out to me that I want to share with all of you is that the most important thing any of us can do is to center our lives on Jesus Christ. Sister Jean B. Bingham, who is the President of the Relief Society (the women's organization in the church), spoke about how centering our lives on Christ is the only true way to find lasting joy! I know that to be true! I know that obedience to God's commandments is what gets us to that point. Learn what the commandments are, and I promise they will really bless you. I PROMISE!!

I know we have a prophet, Thomas S. Monson, to lead and guide us today. Listen to his words and to the words spoken this weekend, and you will feel God's love and have that same knowledge. Have a great week everyone!!

Love, Elder Barlow
